Centralised Kindergarten Waiting List 2011
|
|
Darebin has changed the way kindergarten places are allocated from 2011 following a review of Council’s Centralised Kindergarten Waiting List.
|
|
| Darebin Centralised Waiting List Policy and Procedures |
| |
| A major change will involve when parents register their child for kindergarten. Families will be required to register their child between 1st February and 30th April of the year prior to them attending kindergarten.
A priority of access and point system will be used in the allocation process.
The Darebin Centralised Waiting List Policy and Procedures provides a framework that applies Victorian Government allocation and funding criteria to: • Prioritise access for vulnerable children, increasing opportunities for children facing the greatest barriers to early learning • Promote local community connection and continuity of learning • Prioritise families who are Darebin residents or whose child attends formal verified care in Darebin • Offer kindergarten places equitably

|
Vulnerable Children and Families |
| |
Darebin supports the State Government policy directions which articulate that children with additional needs, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background, children known to Child Protection and those eligible for fee subsidy, benefit most from being involved in early childhood programs. Families that demonstrate that they have a child in one of these categories will be allocated to a kindergarten program as a priority.

| 2012 Kindergarten Centralised Waiting List Applications |
| |
| A completed application form will need to be lodged prior to 30 April 2011. Families who have previously completed an application form for a Kindergarten or Pre Kindergarten place in 2012 will be sent a letter detailing the new process together with a new application form. For kindergarten placements required in 2012 the form will need to be completed and forwarded to the City of Darebin Kindergarten Waiting List office by 30 April, 2011 (on or after the next business working day). No additional processing fee will be incurred if an application has previously been submitted.
